Dan Pink Journal Entry
I thought Dan Pink's videos were very interesting and somewhat entertaining. I think that he is saying that the world is no longer going to employ people to do simple mundane jobs. That sort of thing is being automated through the use of technology. Children are going to need to be taught to be creative, to see the big picture, to be inventive and empathetic. The world today has advanced to the point that the next generations will need to think outside the box in order to be successful. This means they will need to be taught the technology and the skills that use their creative side of the brain.

I think you summarized Daniel Pinks major assertions accurately and made logical conclusions for what they mean for schooling in the 21st century!
ReplyDeleteI think that you hit the nail on the head with this one!!! So, my biggest question that came from this was, "what is going to happen to teachers in the future?". I hope that as an art teacher, I will have job and the opportunity to bring out the creative side of my students!!! Great Post!!!:)
ReplyDeleteI also believe your summary of Daniel Pink's videos is on target. He had a lot of good points to make, how those points are adapted into the new teaching future is unsure. We are all adapting in the workforce to these new technologies, I believe faster than the school systems.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you post! Daniel Pink, made many great and interesting points, but I do believe that his overall focus was the changes in the workforce and the use of technology in the future. Many educators are afraid of change and the use of technology in the classroom, but if we are to successfully prepare our students for the future they will live in, we must teach them how to use these technologies and incorporate them in their daily lives. Great Post!
ReplyDeleteI was watching a movie once where this kid's dad lost his job, screwing the tops of toothpaste on, to a machine, but later he was hired to fix the machine that replaced him.
ReplyDeleteYes, those mundane jobs are not there anymore. I do, however, like the fact that location is not an aspect of finding a job anymore. If I had a different degree, I could live in WV but my job be in Alaska because of technology. As long as USA jobs hire USA citizens...but that is a different topic.
